Fishing for Trout Port Washington Wisconsin near Power Plant
I arrived at Lake Michigan at about 11am. The temperature was in the 50s with a small chance of rain. The overcast and smokey blue water seemed like the perfect time to be at the lake. I never imaged that it was going to be this good. The large female rainbow started out the day with a electrifying hit. If you have ever caught rainbow you know what I am talking about. Some people call it a death roll. Basically when they figure out your on the other end of the line tugging with all your might they start doing summer salts in the water. I have to say its about the best feeling your ever going to have while fishing for trout. This is where it gets kinda tricky. I did not have a net long enough to reach this mammoth beast from the break wall. If you have ever fished near the power plant in Port Washington then you know your going to need a 12ft net. Well the net was in the car and the gentleman that had a net when I arrived had left for work. So I jogged with my pole around the bay fighting the fish hoping my line would not break. Once I reached the other side of the bay I landed the largest Rainbow in my life. Fortunately a gentlemen showed up soon after the first one I landed with a net. That made the next two a walk in the park compared to the first one. I used brown trout skein to catch all three fish in under an hour.
